Ramat Gan Mayor Orders Opening of City Shelters Amid Rising Tensions with Iran

In response to escalating security tensions with Iran and ongoing U.S. military strikes, Ramat Gan Mayor Carmel Shama-Hacohen instructed the city's security and emergency department to open all public shelters on Thursday. This precautionary measure comes as the Middle East faces heightened instability, with the U.S. Central Command conducting its twelfth consecutive night of extensive attacks on Iranian military targets.

Despite opening the shelters, the Ramat Gan municipality emphasized that there is currently no change in the Home Front Command's official guidelines, and the move is purely a safety precaution. City officials, led by the mayor, maintain continuous communication with the Home Front Command and keep residents updated on any developments.

The U.S. military's recent strikes targeted advanced naval capabilities, missile storage facilities, unmanned aerial vehicle sites, coastal surveillance installations, and air defense assets in Iran. Meanwhile, U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio stated that Iran seeks a deal with the United States daily but repeatedly changes its positions, hindering real progress.

The ongoing security escalation is expected to impact Israeli citizens economically, with energy market analysts predicting a sharp rise in fuel prices within the next week. The price of 95-octane gasoline at self-service stations is anticipated to increase by approximately 25 to 30 agorot, reaching around 7.75 shekels per liter, driven by the instability in the Persian Gulf and its effects on the global energy market.
