Ramat Gan Mayor Orders Opening of Shelters Amid Increased Weekend Missile Risk from Iran

Carmel Shama HaCohen, the mayor of Ramat Gan, announced on Thursday afternoon the opening of all public shelters in the city and urged building committees to refresh their shared shelters. He cited an increased risk of missile attacks from Iran over the upcoming weekend, describing the threat as significant and no longer negligible. Despite the precautionary step, the mayor emphasized that there has been no official alert or change in public guidelines from the Home Front Command. He acknowledged the financial cost of opening shelters but stressed the importance of caution, hoping the alert would prove unnecessary. Shama HaCohen reassured residents that in the event of an escalation, the Israel Defense Forces and Air Force are prepared to protect civilians and strike hostile targets far from populated areas.
