Israeli Cities Open Public Shelters Amid Fear of Immediate Iranian Fire

Following an announcement from the IDF spokesperson and a Home Front Command decision to change defensive policy and impose gathering restrictions nationwide, Israeli municipalities are preparing for the possibility of immediate fire from Iran.

Petah Tikva and Ramat Gan announced on Sunday evening that they were widely opening public shelters across their cities, aiming to give residents outside and those without a reinforced safe room at home access to protected spaces. Minutes later, Eilat also joined the move and said it was opening public shelters throughout the southern city.

Local authorities are urging residents to check that their home safe rooms are functioning properly, clear obstacles from routes to shelters, keep following Home Front Command instructions, and monitor official updates in the media and on municipal websites.
