Maccabi Haifa Signs American-Serbian Forward Andrea Novakovic for Upcoming Season
Maccabi Haifa has officially announced the signing of 29-year-old American-Serbian forward Andrea Novakovic as part of their preparations for the upcoming season. Novakovic is expected to arrive in Israel next week to undergo medical tests before finalizing his contract with the club.
In the previous season, Novakovic played for Reggiana in Italy's Serie B, making 33 appearances and scoring five goals, although the season ended disappointingly with his team's relegation. Born in the United States to Serbian parents, Novakovic has an international background, having represented the United States at all youth levels and earning three senior caps in 2018, all in friendly matches.
Novakovic began his professional career with Reading's reserve team in England and had loan spells at Cheltenham Town as well as Dutch clubs Telstar and Fortuna Sittard. His breakthrough came in Italy starting in 2019 with Frosinone, where he played 101 games and scored 19 goals, leading to a notable transfer to Venezia for 1.2 million euros. He has since played and been loaned out to several Italian clubs including Lecce, Bari, and Reggiana.
