Maccabi Haifa Signs American-Serbian Striker Andrea Novakovic from Italy's Serie B
Maccabi Haifa has secured a surprising new signing with American-Serbian striker Andrea Novakovic agreeing to terms with the club. The 29-year-old forward, who previously appeared for the United States national team, is expected to arrive in Israel next week for medical tests, the club announced on July 16, 2026.
Novakovic played last season for Regina in Italy's Serie B, where he scored five goals and provided one assist in 33 appearances. Standing 1.92 meters tall, he has a diverse European career including stints at Reading in England, Telstar in the Netherlands, and several Italian clubs such as Venezia, Frosinone, and Bari. His most prolific season was in 2017-18 with Telstar, scoring 22 goals and assisting four, while in 2020-21 at Frosinone he netted 11 goals and contributed five assists.
Internationally, Novakovic has three senior caps for the United States and seven appearances with two goals at youth levels. Notably, he declined a move to Hapoel Tel Aviv last summer, seeking a more attractive offer before ultimately joining Regina. Maccabi Haifa’s acquisition of Novakovic adds a tall, experienced striker to their squad ahead of the new Israeli Premier League season.
