Maccabi Haifa Signs American-Serbian Striker Andrea Novakovic from Italy's Serie B
Maccabi Haifa has secured a surprising new signing with American-Serbian striker Andrea Novakovic agreeing to terms with the club. The 29-year-old forward, who has previously been part of the United States national team setup, is expected to arrive in Israel next week for medical examinations, according to an official announcement by the club on July 16, 2026.
Novakovic played last season for Regina in Italy's Serie B and has a notable international background, having made three appearances for the US senior team and seven for the youth teams, scoring twice at the youth level. Standing at 1.92 meters tall, he has experience in various leagues, including stints with Reading in England, Telstar in the Netherlands, and several Italian clubs such as Venezia, Frosinone, and Bari.
His most prolific season came in 2017/18 with Telstar, where he scored 22 goals and provided four assists. In the 2020/21 season with Frosinone, he netted 11 goals and assisted five times. Last summer, Novakovic declined an offer from Hapoel Tel Aviv, reportedly waiting for a more attractive proposal, which eventually led him to Regina. This past season, he scored five goals and made one assist in 33 appearances for Regina.
Maccabi Haifa's acquisition of Novakovic adds depth to their attacking options as they prepare for the upcoming season in the Israeli Premier League.
