Israeli Cabinet Approves Lifetime Security Detail for Netanyahu and Family

The Israeli Cabinet's Security Services Committee has approved a decision, based on recommendations from the defense establishment and professional agencies, to maintain lifetime security protection for Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. This decision was announced on Thursday following an updated security threat assessment. Security officials noted a significant increase in the threat level against Netanyahu, particularly after the targeted killings of senior figures in the so-called "Axis of Evil," including Iranian Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei, Hezbollah Secretary-General Hassan Nasrallah, and other key operatives such as Muhammad Deif and Yahya Sinwar.

The committee also highlighted an elevated risk to Netanyahu's family after the assassination of relatives of Mojtaba Khamenei, including his wife and son, which has intensified concerns about Iranian motives for revenge. Consequently, the security detail for Netanyahu's wife, Sara Netanyahu, will be enhanced for the duration of the Prime Minister's life. Additionally, their children will receive security protection for the next five years. This move reflects the heightened and ongoing threats faced by the Prime Minister and his family amid regional tensions and targeted attacks on Iranian and allied figures.
