Officer Seriously Wounded by Blast in Jenin Refugee Camp

During an operational activity by IDF forces today (Thursday) in the Jenin refugee camp in the Menashe Brigade sector, an IDF officer was seriously wounded and an IDF warrant officer was lightly wounded after an explosive device detonated. According to an IDF spokesperson's statement, the force operating in the area was carrying out a preparatory patrol ahead of establishing a permanent post inside the refugee camp. During the operation, the fighters identified a suspicious object, which at one point exploded. The IDF said that at this stage it is not possible to determine exactly what caused the device to explode. The officer and the warrant officer were evacuated for medical treatment at a hospital, and their families were notified. Security forces are continuing operations at the scene, alongside extensive searches aimed at ruling out the presence of additional explosive devices in the area and investigating the circumstances of the incident.
