IDF officer critically wounded in Jenin blast, another sergeant lightly injured
An IDF officer was critically wounded and another IDF non-commissioned officer was lightly injured today (Thursday) in the explosion of an improvised explosive device in the Ein Jenin area. They were evacuated for medical treatment at the hospital, and their families were notified.
The incident occurred during a preparatory patrol by an IDF force in the Jenin refugee camp, ahead of the establishment of a permanent outpost inside the camp. During the patrol, the force identified a suspicious object, but it is not yet possible to determine what caused the device to explode.
Security forces are operating at the scene to investigate the incident and to rule out the presence of additional explosives in the area.
