Officer Seriously Hurt in Explosive Device Blast in Jenin
An officer was seriously wounded this morning (Thursday) by the explosion of an improvised explosive device during an operational activity by IDF forces in Jenin. A non-commissioned officer was also lightly wounded in the incident. The two were evacuated to hospital and their families were notified.
The IDF continues to operate in the refugee camps in northern Samaria to thwart terrorism. The force operating today in the refugee camp carried out a preparatory patrol ahead of establishing a permanent post inside the camp, and identified the device as a suspicious object. It is not currently possible to determine what caused it to explode.
Security forces are operating at the scene to investigate the incident and rule out additional explosive devices in the area. Further details to follow.
