IDF Officer Moderately Injured by Accidental Gunshot at Military Engineering School
An IDF officer was moderately injured by an accidental gunshot at the Military Engineering School base in the Arava region. The officer was evacuated to a hospital for medical treatment. The IDF announced that the Military Police Investigations Unit has opened an inquiry into the incident, and the findings will be forwarded to the military prosecution for review.
Earlier this month, a separate incident occurred at a training base in the Jordan Valley where a soldier undergoing basic training was seriously injured by a gunshot. Initial investigations suggest the injury was caused by an accidental discharge. The soldier received immediate medical care on site before being hospitalized in serious condition. The soldier's family was informed.
Following both incidents, military police investigators were dispatched to examine the circumstances, including the conduct of the shooting range, weapon handling, and factors leading to the accidental discharges. Once the investigations conclude, the results will be submitted to the military prosecution for further action.
