Serious Incident in Jenin: Officer and NCO Wounded in Explosive Device Blast

An IDF officer was seriously wounded and a noncommissioned officer was lightly wounded during intensive operational activity by security forces earlier today in the Jenin area of the Menashe Brigade, the IDF Spokesperson said.

The incident occurred as the forces were operating in the city to dismantle terror infrastructure and arrest wanted suspects. While moving through the dense area, a powerful blast from an explosive device planted by terrorists went off and struck the fighters directly. Immediately after the explosion, the wounded received initial medical treatment on the spot from military medical forces, and they were swiftly evacuated by air for further treatment at a hospital. Their families were notified.

Jenin and the Menashe Brigade area have been considered in the past two years to be complex centers of terrorism in Judea and Samaria, where terror organizations routinely operate to mine roads and plant powerful explosive devices under roads and in alleys in an effort to harm IDF vehicles and foot patrols. The IDF says operational activity in the area will continue with determination to dismantle terror cells and prevent attacks on the Israeli home front.
