Israeli Security Forces Foil Major Terror Plot in Beersheba, Arrest Four Negev Residents
Israeli police and the Shin Bet security service arrested four residents of the Negev, suspected of planning a terrorist attack targeting police and security forces in Beersheba. The suspects, from the community of Segev Shalom, allegedly intended to carry out multiple coordinated attacks, including shooting at the Segev Shalom police station and detonating an explosive device at Beersheba's central bus station.
The investigation, conducted jointly by the Southern District Police and Shin Bet, revealed that one of the suspects initially incited and supported terrorism through social media posts. The group planned to establish a terror infrastructure aimed at harming security personnel operating in the area. The arrests took place during May and June 2026 in a joint operation involving the Border Police's Southern Unit.
Following their detention, the suspects were interrogated by Shin Bet and the Southern District Police's counterterrorism unit. The Southern District Prosecutor's Office filed a serious indictment against them in the Beersheba District Court, noting that some of the suspects began their activities as minors. Israeli authorities emphasized their commitment to preventing terror acts by Israeli citizens and prosecuting offenders to the fullest extent of the law.
