Israeli Actor and Pilot Dies in California Plane Crash
Israeli actor, pilot, and flight instructor Guy Kapulnik, 46, died in a plane crash in Hesperia, California, on September 24. The single-engine Aeronca Champion aircraft crashed in an open area in San Bernardino County. Kapulnik was the sole occupant of the aircraft, and his passenger also perished in the incident. The exact causes of the crash are still under investigation by U.S. authorities, including the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) and the National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB).
Kapulnik had a notable career, having served as an officer in the elite Israeli Air Force Unit 669. He later graduated from the Technion and trained as an actor at the Nissan Nativ Acting Studio. He appeared in films such as "Lebanon," "Room 514," and "Salsa Tel Aviv." In recent years, he resided in Los Angeles, balancing his acting career with his work as a professional pilot and flight instructor.
His body was returned to Israel for burial. The funeral and memorial service will take place on September 30 at the cemetery in Carmey Yosef, Israel.
