Israeli Actor and Pilot Guy Kapulnik Dies in California Plane Crash
Israeli actor, pilot, and flight instructor Guy Kapulnik, 46, was killed Tuesday in a light aircraft crash in California. Kapulnik, a resident of Carmei Yosef, had been living in Los Angeles in recent years. Another woman also died in the crash.
Kapulnik was a graduate of the Nissan Nativ Acting Studio in Jerusalem and held a degree in information systems from the Technion. Before pursuing acting, he served as an officer in Unit 669, an elite Israeli Air Force search and rescue unit. In Israel, his acting credits included the films "Room 514," "Salsa Tel Aviv," "Guard Me," and "Lebanon," as well as theater and other productions.
He later moved to the United States, where he continued his acting career in film, television, and theater. Alongside acting, his passion for aviation became a central part of his life. He learned to fly in California, became a certified flight instructor, and taught many students.
Following his death, students and friends posted tributes, remembering him as a beloved individual and a significant instructor who taught them not only to fly but also to love aviation. The other victim was identified as a woman who was a student of Kapulnik's.
