Israeli Actor and Pilot Guy Kapulnik Dies in California Plane Crash
Israeli actor and flight instructor Guy Kapulnik, 46, was tragically killed last Thursday in a light aircraft crash in California. Another woman, Taylor Laskey, 33, also died in the accident. Kapulnik, who resided in Los Angeles, was known for his roles in Israeli films such as "Lebanon" and "Room 514." He previously served as an officer in Unit 669, an elite Israeli special forces search and rescue unit.
The fatal crash occurred Thursday morning when the single-engine plane carrying Kapulnik and Laskey went down in an open area. Authorities in the United States are currently investigating the cause of the accident.
Following the news of his death, friends, students, and colleagues shared heartfelt tributes. Kapulnik was remembered as a beloved figure and an inspiring flight instructor who instilled a passion for aviation in his students. He is survived by his parents, brother, and sister. Kapulnik was a graduate of the Nissan Nativ Acting Studio in Jerusalem and held a degree in Information Systems from the Technion.
His family described him as "a man of action, curiosity, and adventure. An actor and creator, a skipper and a man of the sea. Throughout his life, he moved between the stage and the camera, the sea and the sky, and repeatedly dared to choose new paths."
Kapulnik will be laid to rest tomorrow in his hometown of Carmei Yosef, Israel.
