El Al flight LY017, en route from Tel Aviv to Miami, was forced to return to Ben Gurion Airport on Tuesday due to an unexpected technical malfunction discovered several hours after takeoff. The aircraft had been airborne for an extended period, and passengers are now expected to land back in Israel instead of reaching their destination. The airline stated that the unexpected technical issue necessitated the decision to bring the plane back to Israel. If the flight proceeds without an intermediate landing, passengers could face over ten hours in the air. Upon their return to Israel, El Al will offer passengers the choice of either an alternative flight to Miami or a full refund. "We apologize to the passengers for the inconvenience and emphasize that El Al prioritizes the safety and security of passengers and crew," the company said in a statement.
