Grief-Stricken Likud Candidate Slams Hamas Captive Survivor

Itzik Bonzel, a candidate for the Likud party and a bereaved father, issued a harsh condemnation on Monday against Yehezkel Lifshitz, a survivor of Hamas captivity, following remarks Lifshitz made regarding Miriam Adelson. Bonzel stated that it was not Adelson, but "hundreds of heroes" who risked their lives to rescue Lifshitz from Gaza's tunnels, some of whom never returned. He emphasized the immense cost paid by soldiers and their families, asserting that "our sons paid with their lives and the blood of every home in Israel so that you could sit safely in your home."

Bonzel described Lifshitz's statements as "pathetic, infuriating, and detached," expressing boundless rage in the face of such ingratitude and the unbearable pain of lost sons. He went on to state, "I have never written in this style, but I wish there was a way to turn back time and return you to Hamas's hands, because seeing this display of ingratitude, it seems you simply did not deserve for our dear and holy sons to sacrifice their lives for you."

Bonzel further alleged that Lifshitz's comments stemmed from her opposition to Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. He claimed that "hatred for Netanyahu has driven you mad, destroyed any trace of morality and shame, and trampled the honor of those who rescued you at the cost of their lives." Bonzel concluded his remarks by stating, "Silence in the face of such a low point is an unforgivable sin."
