IDF and Shin Bet Eliminate Hamas Commander Involved in Holding Nine Hostages
The Israeli military and Shin Bet announced on Sunday the successful elimination of a Hamas commander, Muhammad Hamad Muhammad Jabein, in an airstrike in northern Gaza last Tuesday. According to a joint statement, Jabein, a commander in Hamas's military wing, was involved in holding nine Israeli hostages throughout the war. He was also reportedly promoting terror plots against IDF forces and Israeli civilians recently.
The statement identified the hostages Jabein was involved in holding as Ziv Berman, Gali Berman, Eitan Mor, Liri Albag, Agam Berger, Matan Angrest, Omri Miran, Keith Segal, and Alon Ohl. In addition to advancing terror operations, the militant was recently working to restore Hamas's capabilities, systematically violating the ceasefire, the statement added.
The strike was carried out to neutralize the threat Jabein posed, the IDF and Shin Bet stated.
