IDF and Shin Bet Eliminate Hamas Commander Involved in Hostage Holding
The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) and the Shin Bet security agency announced the successful elimination of a Hamas commander in northern Gaza last week. The strike targeted and killed Muhammad Hamad Muhammad Jabein, identified as a commander in Hamas's military wing.
According to the joint statement, Jabein was involved in the captivity of nine Israeli hostages: Ziv Berman, Eitan Mor, Liri Albag, Agam Berger, Matan Angrest, Gali Berman, Omri Miran, Keith Segal, and Alon Ohl. He was reportedly responsible for their holding during the ongoing conflict.
In addition to his role in hostage holding, Jabein was also active in promoting terror plots against IDF forces and Israeli civilians. The statement further alleged that he worked to restore Hamas's capabilities, systematically violating the ceasefire.
The airstrike was carried out to neutralize the threat he posed. Southern Command forces remain deployed in the area and will continue operations to remove any immediate threats.
