The IDF said it carried out strikes in northern Gaza over the weekend, killing Ahmed Munir Khalil Zaza, the engineering officer for the West Jabalia battalion in Gaza City. According to the military, Zaza was responsible for producing and distributing weapons between companies, as well as building explosive devices and booby-trapped houses.
The IDF said Zaza had recently tried to plant explosives near the Yellow Line in an effort to attack Israeli forces operating in the area. In a separate strike in northern Gaza, the military said it killed Husayn Safadi, who commanded the sniper network in Gaza City.
The army said Safadi was responsible throughout the war for all sniper attacks against its troops in the Gaza City area. It added that in recent weeks he had repeatedly violated the ceasefire agreement and had tried to train militants and advance additional sniper attacks against IDF forces.
Southern Command troops, the IDF said, remain deployed in the area in line with the agreement and will continue acting to remove any immediate threat.
