The IDF said it carried out precision strikes in northern Gaza over the weekend, killing two senior Hamas operatives who were advancing attacks against Israeli forces. The army said both men repeatedly violated the ceasefire agreement and were targeted as part of operations to remove immediate threats in the area.
The first man killed was Ahmed Munir Khalil Zaza, who served as the engineering officer for the West Jabalia battalion in the Gaza City area. According to the IDF, Zaza was responsible for producing and distributing weapons among company-level units and specialized in building explosives and booby-trapped houses intended to harm troops. In recent days, he reportedly tried to place explosive devices near the Yellow Line in an effort to strike IDF forces.
The second strike killed Husain Safdi, who headed the sniper system in Gaza City. The military said Safdi oversaw sniper attacks against Israeli troops throughout the war, trained snipers, and pushed forward new terror plans. It added that he systematically violated the ceasefire in recent weeks and used the lull to strengthen the organization’s capabilities.
The IDF said Safdi’s activities made him a central target. The army published footage of the strikes and said both killings were carried out as part of a focused campaign against militants operating in the northern part of the Strip.
