Two British Films About Israel Nominated for International Emmy Awards
The International Academy of Television Arts and Sciences has announced the nominees for the 2026 International Emmy Awards, with 64 programs and individuals from 22 countries receiving nominations. Among them are two British documentary projects focusing on Israel, Judea and Samaria, and the war in Gaza. The winners will be revealed at a ceremony in New York on November 23.
In the Documentary category, the BBC film "Louis Theroux: The Settlers" is nominated. In this film, Louis Theroux revisits Judea and Samaria 14 years after his previous documentary about settlers. He interviews leaders of the settler movement, including Daniela Weiss, as well as Palestinian Arabs. The film, produced by Mindhouse Productions, was released in 2025.
Nominated in the Arts Programming category is the ITV film "Exposure: Breaking Ranks: Inside Israel's War," directed by Benjamin Zand. This documentary features current and former Israel Defense Forces (IDF) soldiers, reservists, and veterans who share their experiences during the war in Gaza. They also raise accusations of violations of international law, including indiscriminate strikes, the use of Gaza residents as human shields, and firing on civilians. The IDF has consistently stated that it operates in accordance with international law and investigates suspected violations.
"Breaking Ranks" was broadcast on ITV1 in November 2025 and has already received a BAFTA nomination in the Current Affairs category. "The Settlers," also released in 2025, continues Theroux's long-standing interest in the subject of Israeli settlements.
