Ambassador to US Lands in Israel to Be With Son Critically Injured in Terror Attack

Neriah Laiter, a reservist soldier, remains in critical condition following a vehicular terror attack on Route 443 on Wednesday. While his condition has seen some improvement, his life is still considered to be in danger. His father, Israel's Ambassador to the United States, Michael Laiter, arrived in Israel on Thursday morning and is currently at his son's bedside at Shaare Zedek Medical Center.

Professor Alex Yoskovitz, Deputy Director of Medicine at Shaare Zedek, stated that Neriah was admitted in extremely serious condition, requiring resuscitation and undergoing multiple surgeries. He was later moved to the intensive care unit. "We are living hour by hour now. Every hour we re-evaluate, gather doctors for joint discussions, and change treatment based on findings," Yoskovitz explained.

Ambassador Laiter had previously posted on social media that his son needed a miracle and expressed faith in the power of prayer. He noted that Neriah continued his reserve duty after his older brother, Major Moshe Yedidya Laiter, was killed in northern Gaza nearly three years ago, having served hundreds of reserve duty days on various fronts.

The assailant, Mahmoud Suleiman from the village of Beit Ur al-Tahta, was killed at the scene. Security forces have no prior knowledge of him, and it is believed he acted alone.
