Israeli Hiker Vanishes on Mount Olympus Trek in Greece

A significant search operation is underway in Greece for a missing Israeli hiker, Ami Yogev, who disappeared during a trek on Mount Olympus. Local rescue teams, with assistance from Israeli authorities, are engaged in a race against time to locate the young man, who lost contact during a hike on one of Greece's popular tourist destinations.

Yogev began his trek on Sunday from the "Prionia" parking area, a main starting point for the mountain's trails, heading towards the well-known E4 hiking path. The last known communication from Yogev was a photo he sent to his mother. Witnesses who were in the area reported seeing him near "Klakos" shortly before contact was lost.

The disappearance has caused considerable concern among rescue teams and Yogev's family, with the situation on the ground described as complex and potentially life-threatening. Rescue teams are conducting extensive searches along the winding trail where he was last seen, seeking any information from other hikers who may have encountered him since contact was broken.

The Israeli Ministry of Foreign Affairs confirmed its involvement, stating that the Israeli Consul in Athens and the department for Israelis in distress abroad are in constant contact with local authorities. The ministry emphasized its continuous efforts to assist in locating Yogev, with search and information-gathering operations ongoing at full capacity.
