Israeli Hiker Missing on Mount Olympus in Greece
An Israeli man, Ami Yogev, 46, has been missing since Sunday while attempting to climb Mount Olympus, Greece's highest peak. Yogev, who had traveled to Athens alone days earlier, informed his mother of his plans to ascend the mountain. He sent her photos and messages during his climb, but communication ceased around midday Sunday. His mother told Ynet that he last responded at noon and saw her subsequent message at 4 p.m. without replying, and his phone has been unreachable since.
The Israeli police and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs have been notified and are coordinating with Greek authorities and Interpol. A company specializing in thermal imaging drones has volunteered to assist in the search efforts, including nighttime operations. Israelis currently in northern Greece are also mobilizing to support local mountain rescue teams.
