Israeli Hiker Missing on Mount Olympus in Greece

An Israeli man, 46-year-old Ami Yogev, has been missing since Sunday after apparently setting out to climb Mount Olympus in Greece. His family has been in immense distress since losing contact with him. A post on the Facebook group "Northern Greece with Sivan Zamir" is appealing to other travelers in the area for assistance in locating Yogev.

According to the post, Yogev embarked on his trek without travel insurance, and his family lacks the financial means to hire a private rescue team from Israel. Sivan Zamir, who published the call for help, has stated he is personally going to the Mount Olympus area to aid in the search efforts. He is coordinating with mountain rescue operators and local emergency units.

Zamir has urged hikers in the region to provide any information that could lead to Yogev's whereabouts, emphasizing the need for "eyes on the ground" to find any clue. He is asking if anyone saw Yogev on the trails, in huts, or at rest stops since Sunday, or if they have any information about his exact plans. Yogev reportedly started from the Prionia parking area towards the trail.

The last photo Yogev sent to his mother, believed to have been taken after the second refuge on the E4 trail of Olympus, was shared in the post. Reports from the mountain indicate he was last seen in the Kalakos area. Anyone in the Mount Olympus area, who has recently traveled there, or has information that could help find Yogev, is asked to contact Sivan Zamir via the "Northern Greece with Sivan Zamir" Facebook group.
