Israeli Hiker Missing on Mount Olympus in Greece
An Israeli man, 46-year-old Ami Yogev, has been missing since Sunday after he apparently set out to hike Mount Olympus in Greece. His family in Israel reported him missing on Tuesday, appealing to other Israeli hikers in the area for assistance in locating him.
Yogev reportedly began his ascent from the Prionia parking area, following the E4 trail. The last contact with him was a photo he sent to his mother, believed to have been taken after the second rest stop on the trail. There are unconfirmed reports of him being seen near Kalakos, but this has not been verified.
The family is urging anyone who was in the Mount Olympus area since Sunday to check if they saw Yogev, passed him on any trails, or spoke with him about his planned route. They are asking for any information that could aid in his search to be relayed to the family or rescue authorities.
The Israeli Ministry of Foreign Affairs confirmed it is involved, stating that the Israeli consul in Athens and the department for Israelis in distress abroad are in contact with local authorities and are assisting in the search efforts as much as possible.
