IDF and Shin Bet Eliminate Hamas Finance Chief in Khan Younis

The Israeli military and Shin Bet conducted a precise operation in Khan Younis on Wednesday, eliminating Mohammed Abu Alwan, identified as Hamas's head of finance. Abu Alwan was reportedly responsible for the financial pipeline supporting Hamas's terror activities in the Gaza Strip.

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Defense Minister Israel Katz issued a joint statement praising the forces for the operation and vowing to continue pursuing Hamas leaders, disrupting its funding, and destroying its infrastructure. "We will not allow Hamas to rebuild its strength and will not stop until there is no Hamas in Gaza," the statement read.

Alwan's elimination is considered a severe blow to the organization's operational and economic capabilities. As head of finance, he managed budgets, transferred funds, and financed Hamas's terror operations, and his death is expected to disrupt the group's ability to fund its activities and pay its operatives.

The operation is part of ongoing efforts by Israel's security establishment to target Hamas leadership and infrastructure. In recent weeks, the IDF has intensified operations against Hamas commanders, aiming to prevent the group from regrouping. Concurrently, security forces have conducted extensive operations in the West Bank, including the arrest of a wanted Fatah operative in the village of Qaryut.
