Israel Eliminates Hamas Finance Chief in Gaza Strike
Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Defense Minister Israel Katz announced that the IDF has eliminated Muhammad Abu Alwan, identified as the head of Hamas's finance department, in an airstrike in Khan Younis in the southern Gaza Strip. The two leaders praised the IDF and the Shin Bet for the operation, stating that Israel will continue to target the organization's funding sources. Reports from Gaza indicate the strike targeted a vehicle in the Al-Mawasi area of Khan Younis, near the coastal road. The attack reportedly resulted in the deaths of two individuals, including Abu Alwan, and injured three others. "We continue to pursue Hamas commanders and operatives, to strike its funding sources, and to destroy its terror infrastructure," Netanyahu and Katz stated. They further asserted that Israel will not permit Hamas to rebuild its strength in the Strip.
