Israel Slams Macron's UN Speech Denying Hamas Activity in West Bank

French President Emmanuel Macron sparked outrage during his speech at the UN General Assembly by claiming that Hamas has never caused trouble in the West Bank. The Prime Minister's Office in Israel vehemently responded, citing a recent shooting attack in the West Bank that killed Natanel Shicron, who held French citizenship and was targeted by a Hamas operative. Macron's remarks, made between Tuesday and Wednesday, also touched upon the need for humanitarian corridors and the legitimacy of the Palestinian people's right to exist, stating that respecting this right is essential for Israel's security.

In a statement released in English, the Prime Minister's Office called Macron's assertion "absurd and ridiculous." They highlighted the murder of Natanel Shicron, a French citizen and father of six, by a Hamas terrorist in the West Bank just days prior, on the eve of Yom Kippur. The statement emphasized that Hamas terrorists carry out attacks against Israelis almost daily in the West Bank and have murdered numerous Israeli civilians. Israel's response concluded by stating that ignorance is no excuse for disregarding the bloodshed.
