Police Locate Murder Weapon in East Jerusalem Killing, Suspect's Detention Extended

Israeli police investigators have located the suspected murder weapon in the killing of Fatma Rajabi, a 61-year-old resident of East Jerusalem. The suspect, a man in his 60s also from East Jerusalem, was arrested on suspicion of involvement in the murder. Rajabi's body was discovered at the scene and has been transferred to the Institute of Forensic Medicine for identification and to determine the cause of death.

The suspect has reportedly reenacted the crime at the scene, which was uncovered by police. Investigators believe the motive for the murder was a financial debt the suspect owed to Rajabi. The investigation began after Rajabi was reported missing last Tuesday, with search efforts initially focusing on the Mevaseret Zion area.

Police stated that their investigation commenced immediately after Rajabi's family reported her disappearance. During the investigation, it was revealed that the suspect and Rajabi knew each other. The suspect was brought before the Jerusalem Magistrate's Court, which extended his detention until September 27. Reports also indicate that the suspect had an intimate relationship with Rajabi, and allegedly confessed to a family member, "I did something bad."
