Murder Weapon Found in East Jerusalem Killing; Suspect's Detention Extended

Israeli police have located the suspected murder weapon in the killing of Fatma Rajabi, a 61-year-old resident of East Jerusalem. The suspect, a man in his 60s also from East Jerusalem, has had his detention extended until September 27. Rajabi was reported missing last Tuesday, and search efforts initially focused on the Mevaseret Zion area. Police arrested the suspect, who knew Rajabi, after he allegedly confessed to a family member that he had "done something bad." He reportedly reenacted the crime at the scene in East Jerusalem where a woman's body, believed to be Rajabi's, was discovered and sent to the forensic institute for identification. Investigators suspect the motive for the murder was a financial debt the suspect owed to Rajabi. The investigation began following a report of Rajabi's disappearance, and police utilized various operational and technological means to locate her.
