Woman Found Dead in East Jerusalem, Suspect Arrested in Murder Case

Fatima Rajabi, 61, was found dead in East Jerusalem on Friday, with police suspecting she was murdered over a financial debt. Authorities have arrested a suspect in her killing, whom Rajabi's family claims owed her tens of thousands of shekels.

Separately, Ala'a Mahamid, a resident of Umm al-Fahm, died on Thursday from wounds sustained after being shot by police. According to his family, Mahamid suffered from mental health issues and had a history of hospitalization. Police allege that Mahamid was arrested, entered his vehicle, and attempted to flee. A pursuit involving Border Police and officers ensued, and after he was apprehended a second time, he allegedly attacked the officers, who then opened fire.

In another incident on Tuesday evening, Yassin Dakka, 28, was shot and killed in Jaffa. Shortly after the shooting, Jaffa police arrested a suspect in his 20s in connection with the incident. The investigation into this murder has been transferred to the central unit of the Tel Aviv district.

The Abraham Initiatives organization reports that 179 Arab citizens have been killed in crime and violence-related circumstances since the beginning of 2026, including 171 civilians and 8 residents. Of these, 153 were shot dead, 8 were stabbed to death, and 6 died in fires. Among the victims were 12 women and girls, and 8 were shot by police.
