Police Uncover New Leads in East Jerusalem Murder Case
Israeli police announced new developments last night in the investigation into the murder of Fatima Al-Rajabi, a 61-year-old woman from East Jerusalem. Police stated they discovered the suspected murder weapon and revealed that the investigation indicated prior acquaintance between the victim and the suspect, with a financial debt being a potential motive. The suspect, a man in his sixties also from East Jerusalem, was arrested on suspicion of involvement in Al-Rajabi's disappearance and murder.
Following his arrest, investigators conducted intensive procedures that led to the identification of a location in East Jerusalem where the suspect reenacted the alleged crime. The victim's body was found at this site and transferred to the forensic medicine institute for identification and examination of the circumstances of death. The investigation is ongoing.
The Jerusalem Magistrate's Court extended the suspect's detention until September 27 as the investigation into the full circumstances of the case continues. Police also confirmed finding the suspected murder weapon.
