Beloved Channel 11 Director Dies in Cycling Accident

Channel 11 employees received the sad news on Saturday evening of the death of veteran staffer Itzik Barashi, who was killed in a cycling accident on Highway 44. The Israeli Public Broadcasting Corporation mourned him, highlighting his professionalism and dedication.

Ayala Hasson, a prominent anchor for the channel, shared a farewell post, stating, "We began this day with bitter news. Our beloved news director Itzik Barashi was killed in a road accident while riding his bicycle." Hasson added that Barashi was scheduled to work with her just hours after the accident. "My heart aches. A family man, a devoted father, an excellent professional, and most importantly, a good person, a friend. Rest in peace, dear Barashi, I will miss you dearly," she wrote.

"Kan News" mourned Barashi, calling him "a valued director in the news division who was killed this morning in a cycling accident on Highway 44 near the Nesherim interchange." The corporation noted that Barashi, "one of Kan News's most professional and talented directors, joined the broadcasting corporation almost from its inception in 2018, and since then has accompanied our broadcasts with professionalism and commitment, in routine and in war."

Channel reporter Ifat Glick also paid tribute, describing Barashi as "first and foremost a neighbor. A friend at the supermarket in Beit Hakerem. The one who recommends good products, updates on what's new, and which shelf is worth lingering at. And after shopping, we would meet again daily at work. 'Neighborly procedure,' he called it. Barashi is survived by his wife and three children.
