Prominent Rabbi Mordechai Auerbach, Leader of Tel Aviv Community, Dies at 84

Rabbi Mordechai Auerbach, a prominent figure in the Orthodox community and leader of the "Avir Yaakov" Sadigura community in Tel Aviv, passed away at the age of 84. He was also the head of the "Halichot Shlomo" yeshiva and president of the "National Center for Family Purity."

Rabbi Auerbach had been hospitalized at Ichilov Hospital for the past week due to severe pneumonia. His condition worsened, and he was moved to intensive care, with many praying for his recovery.

Born in Jerusalem in 1942, Rabbi Auerbach studied at the Ponevezh Yeshiva. After his marriage, he moved to Tel Aviv and was appointed rabbi of the "Avir Yaakov" Sadigura community, serving as a spiritual guide for decades. His synagogue became a center for those seeking to return to religious observance and for "men of action."

He was known for his inclusive approach and his daily Torah lectures. He also led the "Halichot Shlomo" yeshiva, named after his father, and headed the "National Center for Family Purity" and other organizations. Many people visited his home daily for guidance and blessings.

Rabbi Auerbach is survived by his sons, Rabbi Aaron Auerbach, author of the "Halichot Shlomo" books, and Rabbi Chaim Leib Auerbach, son-in-law of the Slonim Rebbe. He is also survived by his sons-in-law, Rabbi Avraham Natan Bornstein, rabbi of the Radomsk synagogue in Bnei Brak, and Rabbi Yosef Meir Feldman, a senior lecturer at the Vizhnitz Yeshiva in Elad.

The funeral procession is scheduled to begin at 10:00 PM from his synagogue at 17 Elephant Street in Tel Aviv, and at 12:00 AM in Jerusalem, proceeding to his family's plot in Har HaMenuchot.
