Prominent Rabbi Mordechai Auerbach, Leader of Tel Aviv Community, Dies at 84

Rabbi Mordechai Auerbach, a prominent figure in the Orthodox Jewish community and the rabbi of the 'Abir Yaakov' Sadigura community in Tel Aviv, passed away at the age of 84. He also served as the head of the 'Halichot Shlomo' yeshiva and president of the 'National Center for Family Purity.'

Rabbi Auerbach was hospitalized in Tel Aviv's Ichilov Hospital due to severe pneumonia. Despite widespread prayers for his recovery, his condition worsened, and he was moved to intensive care before his passing.

Born in Jerusalem in 1942, Rabbi Auerbach studied at the Ponevezh Yeshiva. After his marriage to the daughter of Rabbi Aharon Bamberger, he moved to Tel Aviv and was appointed rabbi of the Sadigura community, fulfilling the directive of the Roszhin dynasty rebbes. For decades, he was a spiritual leader in central Tel Aviv, fostering a community that included many who had returned to religious observance. He was known for his inclusive and welcoming approach.

In addition to his daily Torah lectures, he led the 'Halichot Shlomo' yeshiva, named after his father, and headed the 'National Center for Family Purity' and other institutions. He regularly received visitors seeking his guidance on religious matters and blessings.

Rabbi Auerbach is survived by his sons, Rabbi Aaron Auerbach, author of 'Halichot Shlomo,' and Rabbi Chaim Leib Auerbach, son-in-law of the Slonim Rebbe, and his sons-in-law Rabbi Avraham Natan Bornstein and Rabbi Yosef Meir Feldman, who are also prominent rabbis and educators.

The funeral procession is scheduled to begin at 10:00 PM from his synagogue at 17 Elephant Street in Tel Aviv, and at 12:00 AM in Jerusalem, proceeding to his family plot on Har HaMenuchot.
