Thousands Mourn Revered Rabbi Mordechai Auerbach in Tel Aviv Funeral

Thousands of mourners, including many prominent Hasidic rebbes, rabbis, and yeshiva deans, gathered in Tel Aviv on Saturday night for the funeral of Rabbi Mordechai Auerbach, the beloved spiritual leader of the 'Abir Yaakov' community. Rabbi Auerbach passed away on the Sabbath.

The funeral procession began at his synagogue on Eliphant Street in Tel Aviv. The immense turnout, with people traveling from across the country to pay their final respects, led to the closure of Eliphant Street and surrounding roads to traffic. Leading the procession were numerous rebbes, rabbis, and yeshiva heads, alongside hundreds of his devoted students and admirers.

During the funeral, heartfelt eulogies were delivered, deeply moving the attendees. Rabbi Auerbach's older brother, Rabbi Azriel Auerbach, wept over the significant loss. Also speaking were the Rebbe of Kopychyntsi, former Chief Rabbi Israel Meir Lau, and other family members, who lamented the passing of a noble figure credited with bringing thousands closer to God through his outreach efforts.

Following the eulogies in Tel Aviv, the procession continued to Jerusalem, where Rabbi Auerbach was laid to rest at the Har HaMenuchot cemetery. Several Hasidic rebbes, including those from Kopychyntsi and Karlin, changed from their Sabbath attire to street clothes and hats as a sign of mourning. Many other rebbes and public figures were also in attendance.
