Air Canada Resumes Israel Flights Sooner Than Planned

Air Canada has moved up its resumption of direct flights between Tel Aviv and Toronto to November 30, instead of the previously announced January 17, 2027. The airline will operate four weekly flights on this route throughout the winter season, restoring direct air service to Canada after a months-long suspension. The carrier had initially halted flights to Israel in March 2026 due to the war with Iran, and had twice postponed the restart date.

Air Canada's earlier return signals a broader trend of foreign airlines gradually resuming and expanding operations at Ben Gurion Airport. This follows similar moves by Delta and United Airlines, which restarted flights to Israel in early September 2026, earlier than their initial late October target.

In parallel, Sun d'Or, a subsidiary of El Al, plans to launch direct flights from Israel to Marrakech on November 16, pending regulatory approval. These flights will operate twice weekly, with round-trip tickets starting at $599 for the LITE fare. Air service to Morocco was suspended after October 7, 2023, and is being restored cautiously based on security, political, and demand factors.

Sun d'Or will join Arkia and Israir on the Marrakech route. Israir resumed flights on September 1 but faced a nearly two-week delay due to issues obtaining airport usage rights in Marrakech, despite prior agreements. The Israeli embassy in Morocco and the Civil Aviation Authority intervened to resolve the situation, and affected passengers received refunds. Israir has now resumed flights, and Sun d'Or anticipates commencing its service in November, with Marrakech becoming one of 13 winter destinations for the airline.
