Sun d’Or to Resume Flights Between Israel and Marrakech

Sun d’Or, a subsidiary of El Al, is preparing to relaunch direct flights connecting Israel and Marrakech, Morocco. The flights are slated to commence on November 16, pending final regulatory approvals. The airline will operate two weekly flights, on Mondays and Wednesdays, with a basic round-trip fare starting at $599, which includes carry-on and checked baggage.

Morocco has become a more accessible destination for Israeli tourists following the Abraham Accords, but direct air travel is contingent on security, political stability, and passenger demand. All flights between the two countries were suspended after October 7, 2023.

Sun d’Or aims to join Arkia and Israir, which are also resuming services to Marrakech. Israir experienced initial difficulties, operating only one flight after restarting on September 1 and then pausing for approximately two weeks due to delays in obtaining operating permits at Marrakech airport. The Israeli Embassy in Morocco and the Israel Civil Aviation Authority intervened to resolve Israir's issues. Israir is now preparing to resume flights after receiving approval from Moroccan authorities.

Marrakech will be one of 13 winter destinations for Sun d’Or, which also include Larnaca and Paphos, Batumi and Tbilisi, Tirana, Chisinau, Belgrade, Warsaw, Krakow, Salzburg, Lyon, and Verona.
