Sun d'Or to Resume Flights Between Israel and Marrakech

Sun d'Or, a subsidiary of El Al, plans to restart direct flights from Israel to Marrakech starting November 16, pending necessary approvals. The flights will operate twice weekly, on Mondays and Wednesdays, with round-trip tickets starting at $599 for the LITE fare, which includes carry-on and checked baggage. Morocco reopened to Israeli tourists in recent years following the Abraham Accords, but flight frequency is contingent on security, political conditions, and demand. Air traffic on this route was suspended after October 7, 2023.

Sun d'Or will join Arkia and Israir, which have already begun returning to the Marrakech route. However, the resumption of flights has faced challenges. Israir restarted its service on September 1 but had to suspend flights for approximately two weeks due to delays in obtaining operational permits for Marrakech airport, despite prior agreements. The Israeli Embassy in Morocco and the Israeli Civil Aviation Authority intervened to resolve the issue. Israir has refunded passengers from canceled flights and is set to resume operations after resolving the permit situation.

Sun d'Or aims to commence its flights in November, provided it secures the required authorizations. Marrakech will be one of 13 winter destinations for Sun d'Or, which also plans to fly to cities in Cyprus, Georgia, Albania, Moldova, Serbia, Poland, Austria, France, and Italy.
