Sun d'Or to Resume Direct Flights to Marrakech This November

Sun d'Or, a subsidiary of El Al, announced on September 15 that it will relaunch direct flights from Israel to Marrakech, Morocco, starting November 16. The airline plans to operate the route twice weekly, on Mondays and Wednesdays, with ticket prices starting at $599 for a round trip, including hand luggage and a small suitcase. The first flight is contingent upon receiving all necessary approvals.

Gal Gershon, CEO of Sun d'Or, expressed enthusiasm for expanding the company's winter destinations, citing Marrakech's unique culture and atmosphere as a draw for Israeli travelers. He noted that Marrakech joins other winter offerings that cater to various vacation preferences, including short breaks, scenic tours, skiing, shopping, and gastronomy.

Sun d'Or's resumption of service follows similar moves by other Israeli airlines. Arkia restarted direct flights to Marrakech in late August after a three-year hiatus, and Israir announced its return to the route in early September for a two-month period ending in October.

Direct flights between Israel and Morocco were suspended at the onset of the "Iron Swords" war, following an increased travel warning for Morocco issued by Israel's National Security Council. Despite the suspension, Israelis continued to travel to Morocco via connecting flights through European countries over the past two years. During this period, protests against Israel also occurred in Morocco.

Israeli citizens require a visa to enter Morocco. Passengers are advised to ensure they have all necessary documentation and permits before purchasing tickets and traveling.
