Maccabi Tel Aviv Dominates Hapoel Tel Aviv in Derby Clash

Maccabi Tel Aviv continued its perfect start to the season by defeating archrivals Hapoel Tel Aviv 4-1 in the Tel Aviv derby on Monday night at Bloomfield Stadium. The victory marked Maccabi's fourth consecutive win in the league, maintaining their hold on first place with a maximum of 12 points.

This derby was particularly significant as it was the first time in 23 years that both city rivals entered the match occupying the top two spots in the league standings. The game lived up to expectations, featuring three goals, a red card, and considerable tension in the first half. Play was briefly halted at the start due to flares being lit in the stands.

Maccabi took the lead in the 18th minute through Dor Peretz's header following a rebound. Hapoel equalized in the 33rd minute with a powerful strike from Stav Touriyal, but their joy was short-lived as Maccabi regained the lead just three minutes later via Osher Davida. The first half concluded with a significant blow for Hapoel as Touriyal received a second yellow card for a foul, resulting in his expulsion and leaving his team with ten players.

In the second half, Maccabi extended their lead in the 88th minute with a goal from Hisham Laous, assisted by Elad Madmon. Madmon then sealed the emphatic victory by scoring the fourth goal in stoppage time, turning the win into a rout.

This win adds Hapoel Tel Aviv to a list of strong opponents Maccabi has already defeated this season, including Maccabi Haifa and Hapoel Be'er Sheva. With 16 goals scored in four matches and a flawless record, Maccabi's impressive season opener continues.
