Maccabi Tel Aviv Dominates Hapoel Tel Aviv in Derby Victory
Maccabi Tel Aviv secured a decisive 4-1 victory over rivals Hapoel Tel Aviv in their Israeli Premier League derby match on Sunday, marking the fourth round of the season. Dor Peretz opened the scoring for Maccabi in the 18th minute, against the run of play. Hapoel equalized in the 33rd minute with a spectacular goal from Stav Tzuriel. However, Maccabi quickly regained the lead just three minutes later through a goal by Oscar Davida. The scoreline widened in the 88th minute when Yishai Laayos added a third goal for Maccabi. Elad Madmon sealed the win with a fourth goal for the yellow-and-blue six minutes into stoppage time.
The match was not without incident. Hapoel's Stav Tzuriel was sent off in first-half stoppage time. Play was also halted for several minutes during the derby due to flares being lit by fans in the stands.
