UK Man Found Dead Near Rabbi Nachman's Tomb in Uman, Efforts Underway to Release Body
Efforts are ongoing to release the body of Yitzhak Elmakais, a UK resident and father of seven, who was found dead in a forest near the tomb of Rabbi Nachman of Breslov in Uman, Ukraine. Elmakais had been staying in Uman during the recent holiday period.
Emergency responders from United Hatzalah were called to the scene during the holiday. Aharon Ben Harush, head of the delegation and deputy branch manager for United Hatzalah in Uman, stated that the circumstances of the death are under investigation. "During the holiday, a case was handled of a person (a Jewish resident of England) who was found lying lifeless in the forest. The circumstances of the case are under investigation."
Medical and Breslov community activists are working with local authorities to expedite the release of the body for burial as soon as possible.
