Tunnel Found Near Separation Barrier Raises Security Concerns
Israeli security forces have discovered a tunnel being dug near the separation barrier in the West Bank, close to the settlements of Giva'at Ze'ev and Giv'on. The tunnel, located in the Palestinian village of al-Jib, was found in an advanced stage of excavation approximately two weeks ago by Border Police (Magav) officers from the Jerusalem Envelope unit. Following intelligence, forces launched an operation and arrested a suspect found with digging tools. The tunnel's entrance was concealed within an ancient water cistern, which had been used to hide the excavation activities. This discovery was made during an archaeological survey of the tunnel and its surroundings. Border Police, in cooperation with IDF soldiers, sealed the tunnel yesterday. Authorities stated that they will continue to act decisively to locate and thwart infrastructure near the separation barrier and to maintain the security of residents in the area.
