Man Charged with Adding Sedatives to Baby Fruit Purees
An indictment is set to be filed today against Yan Shamla, suspected of adding sedative substances to baby fruit purees. The charges follow a complex and thorough investigation by Jerusalem District Police, which also involved the Shin Bet security agency. Investigators analyzed hundreds of hours of security camera footage and employed advanced technological means. Shamla, 41, a resident of Beersheba, was identified through this investigation.
Following the identification of Shamla, detectives covertly monitored his activities, lifestyle, and daily routine for an extended period. This surveillance built the evidentiary basis for his arrest at his home and subsequent interrogation.
After exhausting the investigation's materials and establishing sufficient evidence, the prosecution will file a statement of intent in court today, alongside a request to extend Shamla's detention by an additional five days pending the indictment.
