Man Arrested for Tampering With Baby Food With Anesthetics
Police announced that a statement of claim will be filed before an indictment against Yan Shamla, 41, from Beersheba, who is suspected of introducing anesthetic substances into baby fruit purees. About two and a half months ago, four children arrived at Hadassah Ein Kerem Hospital exhibiting signs of weakness and apathy. An investigation by the Jerusalem District of the Israel Police revealed that remnants of anesthetic substances were found in their blood tests. Following their hospitalization, a connection was made to baby fruit purees from the "Prinoq" brand, purchased at branches of the "Zol U'Begalol" supermarket chain. Police released footage of Shamla walking in a supermarket before he allegedly introduced the anesthetic substances into the purees. The investigation is ongoing.
