Israel Land Authority Deputy Director Responds to Dismissal Hearing

Yehuda Eliyahu, the acting director of the Israel Land Authority, has responded to Housing Minister Haim Katz, who summoned him for a pre-dismissal hearing. Eliyahu stated that the conflict arose because he refused to allow the minister to interfere in the authority's management and professional affairs. He wrote that since taking office, he has repeatedly faced attempts at intervention in managerial and professional matters. When he refused to act in ways that did not align with his responsibilities as director, confrontations ensued.

Eliyahu explained that the dispute stems from his refusal to accept a situation where he bears responsibility for managing the authority, while simultaneously being prevented from performing his duties due to the minister's interference in its day-to-day operations. He implied that the minister's actions were an attempt to promote his own associates within the authority.
